Job Summary

Growth-minded member of the Sports Performance department who focuses on interdepartmental collaboration to provide a player-centric approach to preparation, training, skill adaptation and recovery, ensuring the peak physical performance and resilience needed to capture the organization’s goal of building a championship caliber Player Development system.

Responsibilities:

Performance Programming

  1. Develop programming within a player-centric approach and the training philosophy/methods of Pirates Sports Performance that facilitates growth within individualized player plans for assigned athletes.
  2. Collaboration with minor league coaching staff to create individual player plans geared to improving performance on the field.
  3. Communication with outside S&C resources to create and supervise individual player plans when athletes are training away from Pirates facilities.

Athlete Assessment

  1. Assist Sports Medicine and Sports Performance departments in performing athlete assessments at regular intervals through the year including but not limited to Spring Training, mid-season, end of season, off-season camp assessments.
  2. Collaborate with medical and coaching staff in adjusting or modifying programming based on objective or subjective assessment information that could positively impact individual player progressions.
  3. Ability to perform technology-based athlete assessment protocols to inform decision making within programming and player plan discussions with staff.

Organization & Administration

  1. Collaborate with Int. Strength & Conditioning Coordinator in the management of equipment needs and maintenance schedule for current equipment at the Dominican Republic Academy.
  2. Ensure the standards/expectations for cleaning/safety protocols are up to date and enforced for the assigned training facility.
  3. Complete monthly in-season and off-season player progress reports.

Professional Responsibility

  1. Advocate for continued learning and education within the performance space for MiL performance staff.
  2. Meet yearly requirements for professional certifications and continuing education in the areas of strength & conditioning, skill adaptation and professional baseball.
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  1. Experience working with college or professional athletes in a team setting
  2. Available to work at the D.R. Academy during Spring Training, In-Season and Off-Season camp coverage.

Desired:

  1. Bilingual (Spanish Fluency)
  2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent international degree.
  3. Active CSCS Certification
